São Raimundo beats RPE Parintins on penalties and is in the final of Barezão’s first round

The final of the first round of the 2024 Amazonense Championship has been defined. After a goalless draw in regular time, São Raimundo beat RPE Parintins 3-0 on penalties, on Saturday night (17), at the Francisco Garcia Stadium, and advanced to face Amazonas FC in Barezão’s first decision.

Owners of the house, RPE Parintins started the game being more dangerous, but São Raimundo showed what they were capable of and were also scary in the opening minutes. In the eighth minute, Seninha took advantage of the wrong defense and left Wagner in front of the goal, but Tufão’s number 8 finished blocked, in the hands of Robert. At 21, Tourão’s response came. Allefe crossed from the left after a short corner and Douglas Nunes headed it dangerously wide.

After the chances created, the teams continued to arrive with danger, but failed to finish. Before the end of the first half, both teams have a goal disallowed for offside.

After the break, São Raimundo came very close to opening the scoring. Just two minutes in, Marquinho passed it to Jr Morango on the left, the full-back passed it first time to Léo Salgado, who finished at Robert’s left post.

After a few minutes of little inspiration from both teams, the home team got scared again in the 32nd minute. Gabriel Henrique took a free kick in the area and Fernando, behind everyone, completed the free kick into the hands of Douglas. Time passed, the teams were unable to find the net and the decision went to a penalty shootout.

Under the goalposts, Douglas saved all three of RPE Parintins’ shots, from Gabriel Henrique, Léo Itaperuna and Ygor. In turn, Marquinho, Elyvelton and João Luís converted for Tufão.

Caboco do Jogo

At the end of the duel, goalkeeper Douglas, from São Raimundo, was elected Caboco do Jogo, an award offered by the Amazon Football Federation (FAF) to the best player of the match, through votes from three press professionals present at the match.

With the classification, Tufão advances to face Amazonas in the big decision of the first round of Barezão. With field command from the Jaguar, the match will still have the day, time and location details defined and published by the Amazon Football Federation (FAF).
