For the club’s president, Edielson Souza, the sporting event was a watershed and that participation was extremely important to show the quality of Amapá’s players. “We had been working for three years and our objective was to showcase our players and let people know that there are many diamonds to be polished. Our players are genuinely from Amapá”he said.
The coach of the Amapá team, Miguel Seruca, highlights that passing through Copinha is the first step towards a promising future for the athletes. “The important thing was that the boys were able to compete with the other teams. It was the first step for the young man from Amapá to make people believe that it is worth investing in young people and in football here”he spoke.
As a way of encouraging the boys, the Amapá fans were of great importance in ensuring that they felt the good vibes emanating from each game. According to Seruca, the great repercussion was not expected, but it was great to know that the people of Amapá were cheering together.
“On the field, the boys managed to turn two crowds back in their favor, which is not easy and we were very happy with that, we were welcomed. We didn’t have this expectation of bringing together all the people of Amapá and we didn’t even know much, as we didn’t have access to information, just families and social networks, and we realized that the city was mobilized, that they started to believe and vibrate with our games. We were happy when we arrived at the airport and had that party. It went really well”he said happily.
As a great showcase that it is, Copinha seeks to showcase talents in football and in Amapá, Dayverson, number 10, was the highlight. The club president explains that the player will be on a new team this year.
“We were harassed a lot after the Vasco game. We know that our number 10 was a very popular player, especially on social media, and this made businesspeople look for us. We are doing everything in secrecy, at first, but this year Dayverson is no longer in Macapá and he will be the first fruit of three years of work”explained Edison.
In order for a good game to be played and good training for the athletes, investments must be made so that the state’s name is on the rise. Edielson explains that it is necessary for public authorities to look more closely at football.
“We know the difficulties. When we qualified, we looked for ways to set up a structure, costing at least R$300,000. The other teams have a whole structure and we don’t, and this made the boys think about going and doing something different so that we can be seen. Government officials need to understand that it’s not the club, it’s our state”, he spoke.
