The arrival of the Colombian to the English team reached 500 thousand euros (around R$ 2.6 million)
London (ENG) – Chelsea made the most expensive signing in the history of women’s football. The current four-time English champion announced, this Friday (26), the arrival of Colombian striker Mayra Ramírez, from Levante, in Spain, for 500 thousand euros (around R$ 2.6 million).
“Levante reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of their striker Mayra Ramírez in this (European) winter market. The sale of the Colombian to the English team will mean the highest figure for this type of operation in the history of world women’s football. The operation amounts to 450 thousand fixed euros, plus 50 thousand in variables for objectives that the club expects to be achieved”, says Levante in a note on its official website.
To become the most expensive transfer in the history of women’s football, Ramírez’s deal for Chelsea surpassed that of English Keira Walsh, from Manchester City to Barcelona, in September 2022. At the time, the deal was around 460 thousand euros (around R$2.45 million).
Ramírez was one of the highlights of the Colombian team in the last Women’s World Cup, which reached, for the first time in history, the quarterfinals of a World Cup in this category. Furthermore, in her time defending Levante, the striker scored 19 goals in 40 games played.
