Santos ends his fast against Palmeiras in the Brazilian Championship – 10/08/2023 – Sports

Santos ended a 12-game streak against Palmeiras and beat their rival 2-1, this Sunday (8), playing as a visitor at Arena Barueri. The duel was valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship.

The result leaves Alvinegro from Praia three points above the relegation zone and marks the third consecutive victory for the team led by Marcelo Fernandes.

Alviverde, in turn, is going through a bad moment in the season, with three consecutive stumbles in the championship, in addition to being eliminated in the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores, last Thursday, against Boca Juniors.

Palmeiras wanted the victory to stay in the fight for the national title. Santos had returned to the relegation zone momentarily in the middle of the round, thanks to the 0-0 draw between Vasco and São Paulo on Saturday (7), and was looking for the result to maintain momentum in the fight against relegation.
