The space, created to be a reference in promoting sports within the communities of Manaus, had a renovated field, sports court and swimming pool.

The City of Manaus, through the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (Seminf) and Fundação Manaus Sport (FME), delivered, on Tuesday night (2), the new Amadeu Teixeira sports complex, in the Santa Etelvina neighborhood, North Zone. The space, created to be a reference in promoting sports within the communities of Manaus, had a renovated field, sports court and swimming pool.

“Mayor David Almeida ordered the immediate renovation of the space, shortly after receiving the demand from councilor Elan Alencar. We came to visit on the same day, when I came across a place in ruins. We work tirelessly to change the lives of people who frequent the court and, today, we deliver a complete area, which provides leisure, sport and social inclusion for the community”, stated the Secretary of Works, Renato Junior.

The Secretary of Infrastructure cites other services carried out by city hall departments in the Santa Etelvina neighborhood.

“In addition to the delivery of the field, 145 streets were paved, we renovated UBS, school, daycare and we are working on the fair, which will soon be reopened. We have a feeling of affection for Santa Etelvina. We know about the years of forgetfulness that residents faced”, added the secretary.

The court, with an area of 1,022.75 square meters, received new tiles, as well as painting and renovation of the fences and bathrooms. Outside, the sand field, measuring 5,240 square meters, the fences were replaced and the stands gained coverage. The entire hydraulic and electrical installation of the sports complex was redone. The rooms for practicing martial arts have been revitalized.

In addition, an artesian well was drilled, with the capacity to supply water to the entire complex. The amphitheater is now prepared for the development of activities, such as qualification courses. The pool, 20 meters long by 12 meters wide and two meters deep, has been relined and is ready for use again.

“This space was abandoned for more than 20 years. Now, the entire community is very happy with this new structure. We never imagined receiving this gift. We just have to thank mayor David Almeida and secretary Renato Junior who work so hard to change the reality of our city”, celebrated the self-employed Arleson Rodrigues, 21 years old.

In three years, Manaus City Hall renovated eight spaces for sports and leisure within the communities. In the South zone, the Lusitânia field, in Crespo, received a makeover, a renovation that also reached the Japiim lagoon. At Morro da Liberdade, the children approved the new wet square format.

In the East zone, the Casinha Branca sports complex, in Jorge Teixeira, now has a multi-sports court and sand field, as well as a square with kiosks. In the Mutirão, Campo do Coração was included in the renovation.
