Former player Ronaldinho Gaúcho missed the call to give testimony at the CPI of the Financial Pyramids, which was scheduled to take place this Tuesday (22).

Now, the group has summoned the former athlete to appear next Thursday (24) and, if that does not happen, they will determine his coercive conduct.

Ronaldinho’s brother, Roberto Assis, and businessman Marco Lara, who is a partner in the company 18K Ronaldinho, are in the same situation.

The company promised returns of 2% per day with money invested in cryptocurrencies and investments in the stock exchange. The percentage could rise to 7% if the client indicated one more person to participate.

For all this, he used the Ronaldinho Gaúcho brand, including in the name. The former athlete, in previous statements about the case, said that his image was used improperly.

The returns, far above the market, were not realized in practice, and the case was reported to the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office also investigating the case, and has already stated that it did not find any records of the former player as a business partner.

Ronaldinho was summoned to testify to the CPI as a witness, which obliges him to appear. He and his brother filed habeas corpus with the Federal Supreme Court (STF) so that they would not have to testify.

In response, the STF decided only that they could remain silent if they wanted to, that it did not need to produce evidence against itself.

Ronaldinho’s defense then filed a new appeal, claiming that they did not know about the call-up and that, therefore, they could not attend. Ditto for his brother, who is his manager and takes care of his career.

Members of the CPI stated, with reservation, that they were unable to contact the player and that they do not know where he is at the moment.
