Fifty municipal presidents of provisional committees were sworn in this Saturday (16), by the president of União Brasil Amazonas, Wilson Lima. The event took place at the Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Mocidade Independente de Aparecida court, in the southern neighborhood of the capital of Amazonas, where a large event of affiliation for new party members also took place.

According to Wilson Lima, re-elected governor of Amazonas by the party in 2022, the inauguration event for the new municipal presidents reaffirms the commitment to all the members that make up União Brasil. The party’s objective is to strengthen its structure and prepare for municipal disputes in the 2024 elections.

“União Brasil today brings together experience, youthfulness, workforce and political conditions to be able to participate in this year’s election. And that is what we are making available to the population of the state”, highlighted the governor.

Among those sworn in, state deputy Roberto Cidade, president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), took over the directory in Manaus. “I am very happy and honored to preside over the largest party in the state of Amazonas here in our capital. I don’t feel very prepared for the challenge,” he declared.

Among those sworn in are also state deputy Thiago Abrahim, in Itacoatiara; former state deputy Belarmino Lins, in Fonte Boa; and the councilor of Parintins, Brena Dianná, as president of the municipal directory. “União Brasil is an aggregating party, which welcomes women and men who have the desire to participate in political development here in our state, starting with our cities,” said Brena.

In addition to those inducted by União Brasil Amazonas, representatives of the allied parties Republicans, PP, Podemos, Solidariedade, PMB, PRD, PV and PSB, municipal and state parliamentarians participated in the event.

Mayors

União Brasil currently has 31 affiliated mayors in Amazonas, in the following municipalities: Alvarães, Amaturá, Anamã, Apuí, Atalaia do Norte, Autazes, Barreirinha, Beruri, Boa Vista do Ramos, Boca do Acre, Caapiranga, Canutama, Coari , Codajás, Envira, Guajará, Humaitá, Iranduba, Maraã, Maués, Nhamundá, Novo Airão, Presidente Figueiredo, Rio Preto da Eva, Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, São Paulo de Olivença, São Sebastião Do Uatumã, Tapauá, Tefé, Tonantins and Urucará.

In February, Wilson Lima was unanimously elected president of União Brasil in Amazonas, following the National Executive’s decision to assume the presidency of the party in the state on a provisional basis in January. Furthermore, with the election of Antônio Rueda to the general leadership of União Brasil, Lima also joined the party’s national directory as a full member.

According to the results of the 2022 elections, the party elected – in addition to governor Wilson Lima – two federal deputies: Saullo Vianna and Fausto Jr; and had the highest number of valid votes for state deputy, with 397,540, with six names for Aleam, with Roberto Cidade being the most voted state deputy, with 105,510 votes.
