Federal deputy Fernando Mineiro (PT-RN) attacked an MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre) activist who was trying to record a video with PT president Gleisi Hoffmann at Natal airport (RN) on Friday (15). Representative Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil-SP), one of the founders of MBL, stated this Saturday (16) that he will sue the Ethics Council against Mineiro (PT-RN) for aggression.

Activist Matheus Faustino was waiting for Gleisi at the airport exit to ask political questions. He was recording the PT president with his cell phone when he was attacked from behind by deputy Fernando Mineiro. The two grabbed each other and rolled across the floor. Mineiro appeared to try to forcibly take the cell phone from Faustino’s hands until he was restrained by other people who were at the scene.

In a video published by Kataguiri, it is possible to hear Mineiro say: “That’s what a fascist is, I’m going to break my dick.”

“We are going to file representation with the Ethics Council against PT deputy Fernando Mineiro. He tried to snatch the cell phone from the team. [Matheus] Faustino after questioning Gleisi Hoffmann”, he wrote on X (the old Twitter).

Kataguiri, who is a pre-candidate for mayor of São Paulo, also alleged a “breach of decorum” by the PT member. “Entering a physical fight against citizens who were asking questions is not consistent with parliamentary ethics, a clear breach of decorum,” the parliamentarian wrote on the social network.

After the incident, Mineiro went to social media to clarify the situation and said that it was not the first time that an opposition parliamentarian “invaded political spaces and attacked PT members, especially women”.

The PT member also stated that he will also take appropriate legal action against MBL. “Anyone who knows me knows that I value dialogue and respect for differences, but we cannot tolerate the organized repetition of this type of gratuitous and criminal aggression,” he wrote.
