Richarlison undergoes surgery and is unlikely to play again in 2023

The striker used social media to say he had a chronic problem since the beginning of the year

English club Tottenham announced this Thursday (9) that striker Richarlison underwent surgery. The procedure was done to correct a problem in the pubic area. The Spurs, the team’s nickname, did not disclose the recovery time, but it should be between two and three months, meaning he should not play any more this year.

The attacker used social media to explain that he had a chronic problem since the beginning of the year, but that he was only now able to take care of himself.

“I underwent surgery to correct a chronic problem I had in the pubic area. Since the beginning of the year I have suffered from pain that became unbearable, which undermined my performance and my joy in being on the field. Therefore, a few days ago I decided that it was time to take care of my health, recover and be physically capable of performing at my best again and, above all, being able to live without the pain I had been feeling”, wrote the forward from Tottenham.

“Now, I’m going to go home and get some rest and start the recovery process. I know it will be difficult days without being able to do what I love most in life, but it wasn’t fair to myself, my club and the national team for me to continue leaving my health in the background. I will be back very soon, God willing, 100% recovered and ready for the challenges that lie ahead!”, stated Richarlison.

The player was left out of the list called up for Fernando Diniz’s Brazilian team last Monday (6), due to the coach’s technical choice.

This season, the Brazilian scored two goals in 11 games for Spurs. On his return, he could catch the final Premier League games.
