Paysandu qualified for the semi-final of the Copa Verde 2024 after beating Manaus, 4 x 1, at the Curuzu stadium, in Belém, on the afternoon of last Sunday, 24th. With the victory, Papão guaranteed a place in compete in the final of the competition against Remo, in two matches.
Coming in with a disadvantage due to the defeat suffered against Gavião at Arena Amazônia, by 1-0, Manaus took advantage in the 7th minute with a ball from Roney, but the bicolor from Pará responded in kind, in the 15th minute, through Nicolas.
The turning point occurred in the 29th minute of the first half, with João Vieira. Nicolas found the net again in the 37th minute of the second half, and completing the rout, Edinho scored in the 47th minute, also in the final half.
Behind the score, Manaus went after Paysandu and had chances to equalize with Adenilson, who received a cross in the area and alone, ended up heading out. On the other hand, Papão tried to expand the score in plays on the right side, exploiting the player Edilson. With the victory, Paysandu will face Remo, its biggest rival, in the semifinals of the Copa Verde 2024. There will be two games between the eternal rivals in Belém, at Mangueirão. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has not yet released the detailed table of matches, however on the official website of the institution that runs national football the games are scheduled for April 3rd and 10th, both on Wednesday.
