Mayor Reinaldo Santos Barros (PDT), from the municipality of Calçoene, passed away at the age of 56 in the early evening of this Tuesday (12), when he was transported in an ICU-type aircraft from Macapá to Brasília, where he would be admitted to Hospital DF -Star. He had a heart attack while being transferred from the airport to the hospital.
Reinaldo Barros spent several days admitted to São Camilo hospital, in Macapá, suspected of having dengue hemorrhagic fever. His health condition worsened without a definitive diagnosis being made regarding his situation, and the doctors decided that a transfer would be better.
Reinaldo Barros, who before becoming mayor of Calçoene was deputy to the then mayor Jorge Récio, was married, was in his first term and was a candidate for re-election in the October election. Before being elected, in 2020, with more than 35% of the valid votes, he declared to the Regional Electoral Court that he was a high school teacher and had completed a higher education degree. His declared assets were R$290 thousand. The seat of mayor of Calçoene will be occupied by vice Antônio de Sousa Pinto, Toim, from PL.
