Brasilia DF) – Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) contributed to the discussion of Bill No. 756, in a strong defense in the plenary of a national policy for the construction of more full-time schools. The project, initiated by the Commission on Human Rights and Participatory Legislation, aims to establish guidelines for the implementation of comprehensive education in basic education.

During his speech, Omar recalled his actions as governor of Amazonas, where he was responsible for building 24 full-time schools in his four years in office. These schools, equipped with courts, swimming pools and theaters, to this day welcome thousands of students from the state public school system, providing educational and extracurricular activities throughout the day. He emphasized that this initiative not only improves student learning, but also gives parents peace of mind, knowing that their children are safe and well cared for.

“This makes student learning improve a lot, so much so that those students who pass the entrance exams, who are from public schools, most come from full-time schools”,

Omar argued.

The senator highlighted the importance of the food offered in these schools, mentioning that students eat breakfast, snacks and lunch at the institution, with menus prepared by nutritionists.

Omar also addressed the relevance of extracurricular activities in students’ education, emphasizing that sports, cultural programs and even therapies in swimming pools and courts were implemented in his schools in Amazonas, with positive results. He called on all schools in Brazil to follow the full-time model, arguing that this not only improves the quality of education, but also invests in the country’s future.

For the senator, a change of focus on public investments is also necessary: ​​while a student costs between R$2,000 and R$3,000 per year, a prisoner can cost the government more than R$10,000 per month.
