British Christian Horner, director of the Red Bull Formula 1 team, is the target of an investigation sponsored by the team itself, a spokesman for the team announced this Monday (5), while a Dutch newspaper cited an internal accusation for “behavior improper”.

Quoted by the newspaper De Telegraaf, Horner indicates that he “totally denies these accusations”, which have not yet been specified.

“After becoming aware of certain recent allegations, the company has launched an independent investigation,” a Red Bull spokesperson was quoted as saying by the British Press Association press agency.

“This process, which is already underway, is being led by a specialized external lawyer. The company takes these matters very seriously and the investigation will be completed as quickly as possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time,” he added.

Horner, 50, has been director of the team based in Milton Keynes (United Kingdom) since his appearance in the Formula 1 paddock in 2005.

With him at the helm, the Austrian team won seven world drivers’ titles, four from German Sebastian Vettel (from 2010 to 2013) and three from Dutchman Max Verstappen (from 2021 to 2023), in addition to six world constructors’ titles (2010, 2011 , 2012, 2013, 2022 and 2023).

Red Bull, which plans to unveil its new car on February 15 ahead of the season start on March 2 in Bahrain, enjoyed hegemonic dominance last season, winning 21 of the 22 Grands Prix in 2023.
