Real Madrid announced this Friday morning (29) the renewal of the contract of Carlo Ancelotti, 64. The Italian coach’s new contract with the Spanish club now runs until June 30, 2026.

The professional has been at Real since 2021, having previously managed the club from 2013 to 2015. When announcing the contract extension, the Spanish team highlighted the ten titles won together with the coach, including two Champions Leagues.

The extension of the agreement between the parties frustrates the plans of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) to count on the coach’s work from 2024. The entity took his hiring for granted.

In July, when he announced the hiring of Fernando Diniz on an interim basis, with a one-year contract, Ednaldo Rodrigues, then president of the entity, said that he had an agreement with Ancelotti for him to take over Brazil after that period. The professional, however, never confirmed this publicly.

As Ednaldo was removed from his position by court decision on the 7th, the agreement with the coach had become an unknown.

The team’s crisis on the field, in fact, was the loophole used by the opposition to create a movement that led to Ednaldo’s downfall. Until the new elections, the CBF is under the presidency of José Perdiz, who took leave from command of the STJD (Superior Court of Sports Justice).
