After the controversies with the evangelical bench in the National Congress, due to the end of the tax exemption granted by former president Jair Bolsonaro to religious leaders, the Workers’ Party is preparing a campaign to combat the Fake News who accuse President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of promoting the closure of churches.

According to the newspaper O Globo, the campaign targets especially evangelicals, who are also frequent targets of fake news, and aims to deny claims that Lula would close churches, Catholic and evangelical; and broadcast since the election period, in 2022.

The campaign will be publicized on social media, to show that, contrary to what was circulating in several posts since the time of the presidential election, the threats conveyed did not materialize.

According to data from the latest Census, carried out in 2022, Brazil today has almost 580 thousand religious establishments, a much higher number than schools and hospitals, for example.
