Two spectators at the Champions League game in which Barcelona beat PSG 3-2, in the French capital, were arrested for racist insults and defending war crimes, authorities announced this Thursday (11).
“Security forces (…) carried out two arrests: condoning war crimes and public insults of a racist nature,” the Paris municipal police reported on the social network X.
The organization added to its message a screenshot of a video, published on social media, in which a Barça fan is seen imitating the screams and gestures of a monkey and another making the Nazi salute.
The police do not specify in their message whether these are the people detained, but, according to a person close to the case, the two detained spectators are Spanish and Barça fans.
For similar incidents that occurred during a match between PSG and Juventus, at the Parc des Princes, the French court sentenced two Italian fans in January 2023 to fines of up to 4,000 euros (around R$22,000 at the current rate).
The Champions League quarter-final match between Barça and PSG was played on Wednesday under heavy police action, following threats made by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).
