ILLEGAL

According to the French press, a movement by PSG directors indicates corruption in the transfer values

The negotiation that transferred Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017 is being investigated by the French courts, for alleged influence peddling in tax relief for the French club.

The French court alleges maneuvers to give illegal tax advantages to PSG in the payment of 222 million euros to Barcelona at the time.

According to the European press, French law, the termination of 222 million euros, paid to transfer Neymar from Barcelona to the Paris team, could be considered as an advance on the athlete’s salary. In this scenario, Paris Saint-Germain should have paid the amount due to Social Security and income tax.

According to local press sources, French leaders were able to ask the Minister of Public Accounts, Gérald Darmanin, for PSG not to pay taxes related to the Brazilian’s transfer to the club.
