Manaus (AM) — State deputy Roberto Cidade (UB), president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), presented Bill (PL) No. 73/23, which encourages teaching and scientific research in the state’s basic education network . The measure aims to increase access for students from public schools in Amazonas to scientific initiation as a strategy to seek and expand their knowledge.

“Scientific research is an instrument of great importance for the construction and propagation of knowledge, it contributes to the promotion of technological activities and is a strategy for the economic and social development of the State. It is an area that requires investments and actions that strengthen and stimulate it. With the development of science, research and technology, our students tend to build a better future for themselves and for society”,

According to the project, basic education students from the state public education network will be encouraged to pursue scientific initiation through taking a leading role in the process of building and reconstructing knowledge in favor of the common good; promoting the teaching-learning process, with activities related to the scientific field; the expansion of study, research, science, innovation and the development of learning skills.

The PL also encourages pluralism of ideas and pedagogical concepts; the promotion of humanistic, scientific and technological activities as strategies for the economic and social development of the State; the dissemination of research actions among students, encouraging debates and the production of new knowledge; strengthening the dissemination of science and valuing scientific culture and participation in creative processes for solving social problems and improving quality of life and social well-being.

“Student participation in the group of activities will be optional and free of charge, but I am sure that everyone will be interested in participating. This demand arose from requests from students who see the importance of maintaining skills that reflect opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is within this perspective that the inclusion of scientific education for students becomes another valuable instrument to improve qualities, knowledge and stimulate the beginning of the training of professionals focused on science and research, in addition to preparing them for higher education”,
