The Federal Police arrested on Wednesday (9) Silvinei Vasques, former director general of the Federal Highway Police, in an operation concerning interference by the corporation in the second round of the 2022 elections.

The arrest was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), based on messages and data obtained by the PF indicating the PRF’s actions under then President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) against strongholds of Lula’s (PT) voters. .

The content obtained by the Federal Police points out that Silvinei ordered policing directed against PT voters in the second stage of the election, distributing human and material resources with the aim of making traffic difficult on October 30th.

Also according to the report, the PRF decided to reformulate the inspection plan for the national vote, drawn up in September and valid for the two planned rounds, and to create a new operating model after the result of October 2, when Lula ended up ahead of Bolsonaro.

In the second round, ostensive patrolling was carried out and directed mainly to the Northeast region, an electoral college that was then more favorable to the now Chief Executive in terms of voting intentions. The facts investigated configure, in theory, the crimes of prevarication and political violence.

In a statement to the PF, Silvinei denied that the blitze carried out had the objective of preventing Lula voters from voting.

Silvinei was one of Bolsonaro’s closest subordinates and was summoned on the day of the second round by Moraes, who is also president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), to explain the actions of the Federal Highway Police under the risk of prison.
