Pre-candidates for mayor of Manaus face each other in the first debate

Four of the seven invited pre-candidates confirmed their presence

Manaus (AM) – The first Debate between Pre-Candidates for Mayor of Manaus is scheduled for April 12th, at 6pm, and will be broadcast live on Instagram @cynthiablink, on YouTube on the Diário da Capital portal and on Mix Manaus radio, on 100.7. In addition to being a pioneering event, as it brings together pre-candidates for a debate, the originality is also present in the audience made up of lawyers, journalists and university students. This audience will be welcomed in the more than 400 seats of the Rubi auditorium, at the headquarters of the Brazilian Bar Association, Amazonas section (OAB-AM), located at Av. Umberto Calderaro, 2000, in the Adrianópolis neighborhood.

The debate is the result of an initiative by journalist Cynthia Blink, who has dedicated herself to covering Amazonas politics on social media for more than 10 years. During this journey, the idea was welcomed by the president of OAB-AM, lawyer Jean Cleuter, who provided the space in which the event will be held. Another partnership signed was with radio Mix Manaus (100.7), which will broadcast the first and second blocks of the debate. Finally, the “democratic pool” closes with the collaboration of the Diário da Capital portal, which will also broadcast the debate on YouTube.

Rules and format

Next Monday (08), the event organizers will hold a meeting with the representatives of the pre-candidates to approve the rules for the debate. The initial schedule includes questions from journalists, the online audience and, finally, direct confrontation between the pre-candidates.

It is also possible to say that the debate will be mediated by the creator Cynthia Blink, and will have an examining panel that will evaluate the requests for responses. In this role of approving or disapproving requests are journalists and professors from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) Ivânia Vieira, Mirna Feitoza and Allan Rodrigues, together with lawyers Fued Neto, president of the OAB-AM Electoral Law Commission, and Jerry Dias, who is also a member of the commission.

Confirmed pre-candidates

So far, four of the seven invited pre-candidates have confirmed their presence: federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL); federal deputy Amom Mandel (CDD/PSDB); Maria do Carmo Seffair (Novo) and state deputy Wilker Barreto (Mobiliza). In addition to them, Mayor David Almeida (Avante) was called, as well as the president of the Legislative Assembly, deputy Roberto Cidade (UB), both of whom have not responded to the request so far. There was also an invitation to the PSOL/Rede and PT/PCdoB/PV federations, which are in an impasse over which pre-candidate will represent them.
