The governor Clécio Luís, directly from Brasília, over the phone, said on the morning of this Tuesday, 9th, that he lived up to the expectations of today’s president Lula sign the Provisional Measure that will allow Amapá to remain without adjustments to its electricity bill until the end of 2024 and to have a reduction in future increases, starting in 2025, noting that the MP will have immediate effect, and that forwarding it to the National Congress is only a formality.
Clecio recalled that the presidential MP is the result, in the first instance, of the articulation of the senator David Alcolumbre, together with the minister of mines and energy, Alexandre Silveira, then joining the fight with the holder of the regional integration and development portfolio, Waldez Góes.
“We have been in this expectation since August last year, working to ensure that the adjustment does not materialize. In September, Aneel opened a public consultation to authorize a 44% adjustment to Amapá’s electricity bills. So, we started convincing Aneel, the Ministry of Mines and Energy and finally with President Lula”described the governor.
Clecio also recalled that in November, in a hearing, Lula understood that the readjustment was unacceptable. In December, in Macapá, when he came to the inauguration of the Miracema housing complex, the president guaranteed that the increase would not happen, at least at absurd levels. “And today he signs the MP that goes to Congress. But with immediate effect”celebrated the ruler.
The manager from Amapá also explained that Lula’s Provisional Measure has three aspects: the first two, national – encourages the generation, production and distribution of clean energy, reducing costs; then uses resources that Eletrobras would receive until 2027 to pay debts from the national energy system. And the last aspect, use of part of the Energy Development Fund to cover what would be the readjustment in Amapá’s accounts.
According to Clécio’s explanation, the MP, for consumers in Amapá, will not leave them liable to be surprised at the end of the year with an adjustment, while at the same time guaranteeing a reduction in increases in subsequent years.
