Port of Manaus will be included in the PAC, announces Eduardo Braga after meeting with president

Brasilia DF) – Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) announced the inclusion of the Port of Manaus among the priorities of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). This was one of the agendas, of the four topics discussed this Tuesday (12), during a meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Braga, which took place in the early evening at Palácio do Planalto.

The meeting lasted around an hour and was attended by senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM). President Lula discussed other specific issues in Amazonas, such as the importance of maintaining the competitiveness of the Manaus Free Zone and the urgent need to recover BR-319.

Tax reform also entered the agenda of Lula’s conversation with Braga, who was the PEC rapporteur in the Senate. The expectation is that the matter will be enacted later this year, after a new vote in the Chamber of Deputies.

On social media, the Senator informed details of the visit to the president.

“In an hour-long conversation at Palácio do Planalto, the president and I also talked about the urgent need to accelerate the recovery works on BR-319 and the importance of the Manaus Free Trade Zone in conserving the forest of our Amazonas. Thanks to ZFM, we keep 97% of the state’s forest standing! Of course, tax reform was also on the agenda of this meeting, which also included the participation of Senator Omar Aziz”, he published.
