Pope Francis is praying for Júlio Lancellotti, says deputy who met with pontiff – 01/14/2024 – Panel

Federal deputy Jilmar Tatto (PT-SP) states that he spoke with Pope Francis about Father Júlio Lancellotti, who has suffered a series of attacks and should be investigated by the CPI of NGOs in the São Paulo City Council.
Tatto and other PT members had an audience with Pope Francis this week, at the Vatican.
The deputy tells the Panel that, in response, the pontiff stated that he is praying for the priest. He also asked the parliamentarian to convey a hug to Júlio Lancellotti.
“Father Júlio defends the most vulnerable people in the city of São Paulo and must be valued. We must have solidarity and support him in this great mission he has carried out in the city. What is happening to him is absurd”, he says Tatto.
The delegation also included representatives Washington Quaquá (PT-RJ) and José Guimarães (PT-CE), as well as the PT’s national secretary of Finance and Planning, Gleide Andrade.
“I told the Pope that I am leader of the Lula government and he laughed, said that he really liked Brazil. We also talked about Father Júlio, about what he is suffering in the country. It was a very special moment”, says Guimarães.
