Police open investigation into espionage at Corinthians – 01/29/2024 – Sports

The Civil Police opened an investigation to investigate the allegation of espionage at Corinthians. At the beginning of this month, a sweep ordered by the club’s recently installed president, Augusto Melo, found equipment that allegedly monitored the director’s room and also facilities used by the black and white team’s youth teams.
Report from Sheet published on the 10th revealed the presence of cameras and bugs found on the floor where the president’s office is located in Parque São Jorge and where meetings take place with other club directors and advisors.
In a statement, the SSP (Public Security Secretariat) reported that a camera and a DVR recorder were seized, both found at the club’s headquarters. The equipment was sent to the IC (Institute of Criminalistics) and is being inspected.
According to a report submitted by the club, however, a sweep of the premises carried out by the company KGB found three motion sensors with cameras hidden inside each of them. The document mentions that the sensors were tampered with to place the cameras.
Devices were also found in the reception on the fifth floor of the administrative building. Additionally, a hidden camera was found in a meeting room in the base’s CT. The spy item in the space reserved for the club’s kids was connected to a DVR recorder, storing what was recorded by the installed device.
Two police reports about the case were registered. The first was made by Augusto’s predecessor, former president Duilio Monteiro Alves. Afterwards, the club’s legal department also contacted the police and handed over the equipment that the current management says they found.
When asked by the report about the discovery of the espionage scheme, Corinthians confirmed the information and, in a short note, simply said that “Corinthians’ new administration regrets it, but is not surprised by what happened.”
Duilio said he does not believe that equipment of this type was found in the room he occupied during his mandate. But he added that, if any equipment was actually found, he was the target of espionage.
