Manaus (AM) — The Bill authored by deputy Cristiano D’Angelo (MDB) is being processed in the Amazonas Legislative Assembly (Aleam), which provides for the inclusion of the content “Agriculture and Health Education” in the curriculum plan of public schools and private teaching of basic and fundamental education in Amazonas.

The objective of the project is to improve learning about agricultural activities, based on the experiences and daily lives of rural people, demonstrating the relevance of agriculture for society and for the development of the State, as well as strengthening family farming, which will result in in valuing local and regional food production, thus encouraging learning about organization, cooperation and entrepreneurship, as well as citizenship and the relevance of social, cultural and environmental aspects.

The PL intends to promote an educational path, animal health, plant health, learning about the quality of agricultural products and their derivatives, together with the sharing of concepts and information about food safety, health education in defense of agriculture and sustainability.

“The objective of health education is to develop future members of the community, to generate significant improvements in health conditions. Health education is a continuous process, which is based on the sociocultural experience of the population, encouraging individuals to take responsibility for their health conditions, in order to make them responsible, participatory and transformative beings of reality”,

said the parliamentarian.

The implementation of “Agriculture and Health Education” in schools will contribute to training and awakening in children the importance of caring for animals, the environment and human health, spreading the concept of single health, disseminating the importance of good agricultural practices, supervision, health inspection and certification, in order to influence changes in attitudes throughout the community where children live.

“The PL intends to develop and implement educational-sanitary agricultural defense projects to encourage individual and collective responsibility of students in relation to the benefits and maintain standards of health, safety and quality of products”, explained the parliamentarian. He also said that it is important to disseminate information about the different phases of the production chains that are related to agricultural activities. “What makes future citizens committed to the well-being, health and progress of our State”, emphasizes the deputy.

Project

The Bill proposes to the “Agriculture and Health Education” content program committee to indicate the content, which will be taught in the activity plan for students in the State.

The Executive Branch will be responsible for regulating the rules necessary for compliance, assigning the appropriate powers to the State Department of Education and School Sports (Seduc).
