State of SP generates 38 thousand new jobs in January – 03/18/2024 – Panel

The number of employees with a formal contract increased by 0.3% in the state of São Paulo in January 2024 compared to the previous month, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) compiled by Fundação Seade.
The net balance was 38 thousand new vacancies, resulting in a total of 13.9 million formal jobs in the state.
There was a positive change in construction (2.5%), industry (1%) and services (0.2%). Decreases were recorded in agriculture (-1.5%) and commerce (-0.5%).
Last year, São Paulo registered 406 thousand new jobs, with 7.2 million hirings and 6.8 million dismissals. Growth was 3%, close to the national rate of 3.5%. The balance in São Paulo represents 26% of the total 1.6 million jobs created in the country.
“The diversification of the São Paulo economy proves the strength of our state in all sectors of the countryside and the city. The positive employment numbers indicate that the initiatives of the Government of São Paulo to attract large investments and make life easier for those who undertake and generate jobs they are moving the right levers in our economy”, declared governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
