Phelipe Leal calls up the U-17 team for friendlies against Mexico – News of Brazil

The Brazilian Under-17 team is called up for the friendlies against Mexico. The duel will put the U-17 South American and Concacaf champions face-to-face and will serve as preparation for the U-17 World Cup, which will be played at the end of the year. The games are scheduled for the 27th and 30th of June.

For the first call-up after the title in Ecuador, coach Phelipe Leal kept the winning base and will take advantage of the period to observe new athletes. The presentation is scheduled for June 21, with clashes on the 27th and 30th in Mexico City, the country’s capital.

Mexico, current Concacaf champion, will be the opponent of the Brazilian team in this series of two friendlies in Mexico City. In addition to the title of the confederation that brings together the teams from Central and North America, Mexico is the current U-17 world runner-up.

In 2019, Brazil and Mexico played in the final of the U-17 World Cup, with Brazil winning the decision by 2-1. The team was led by Guilherme Dalla-Déa and had Phelipe Leal, current coach of the Brazilian U-17 team , as an assistant.

“It is very important to face different schools, different opponents and traditional teams that can raise our level, not only in competitiveness, but also in concentration and quality of play.
