Manaus (AM) – Pedro Nunes, javelin athlete, won the gold medal in the Adhemar Ferreira da Silva Loterias Trophy, held this Saturday (6), at the National Athletics Development Stadium, in Bragança Paulista. The athlete, who is a member of the Amazonas Project at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Bolsa Sport Estadual, reached the mark of 80.02m to secure the highest place on the podium.
“We are fully committed to providing all the necessary support so that our athletes, like Pedro, can continue overcoming challenges and bringing achievements to our State”,
said the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), Jorge Oliveira.
The Amazonian, born in Parintins (369km from Manaus), reached the biggest mark of the night in his second launch, when he took the lead in the competition and was never overtaken. Silver went to Luiz Maurício, an athlete who participated in the Pan-American Games in Santiago 2023 with Pedro, and Arthur Monteiro Curvo took bronze.
“It was my best start to the year in my career, I have been training hard to have the best possible performance this season. This competition adds important points for the Road to Paris 2024 Ranking, specific to the Olympic Games, and from now on we will have an idea of what we will need to do to qualify for the Paris Olympics”,
said Pedro Nunes.
The competition was Pedro Nunes’ first in 2024, adding points in the Ranking road To Paris Athletics in search of a place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Amazonian will now compete in the 3rd Cbat/CPB Challenge, a category E event of World Athletics and which It’s also worth points for the Olympics, on April 28th in São Paulo.
