The Bumbódromo 2024 Mural, entitled “Patrimônio em Festa”, will have the art by Pito Silva, from Parintina, who won the tender opened by the Government of Amazonas exclusively for artists from Tupinambarana Island. Art was also the basis for creating the visual identity of the 57th Parintins Festival, which will conquer the world. The logo was presented during the opening of the event, this Friday (15), at Teatro Amazonas.

According to Governor Wilson Lima, the initiative aims to give visibility and encouragement to local artists.

“Increasingly we work to value the artist who lives in Parintins. We launched the new mural that will remain in the Bumbódromo for two years and, from this mural, we have already built our brands and also our visual identity”, said the governor.

Among the eleven works entered in the Mural Bumbódromo 2024 competition, the work of the artist from Parintina was selected according to, among other criteria, the creativity, originality and communicability of the festivity and its elements.

The Secretary of State for Culture, Marcos Apolo, stated that the mural is a way of expanding the number of artists who are directly involved in the festival.

“This year we are changing the mural that remained for two years, it was a great innovation from the Wilson Lima government, it became an important tourist spot in the city and this year we put out a notice, we called the artists, we received several proposals, one was chosen and The new brand was created based on the concept of this image”, emphasized the secretary.

The work

According to Pito, the work was created to convey a direct and far-reaching message to the Parintins Festival, represented by the oxen Garantido and Caprichoso, and a child.

“Inspiration comes from birth. I grew up seeing it like that. It’s a child’s game that became the biggest open-air spectacle in Brazil, it became Brazil’s cultural and intangible heritage and that makes us very proud. So, today, we bring, in a mural composition, the figure of a child, a curumim, who represents this love, this passion of Garantido and Caprichoso fans”, said the artist.

The work has a predominance of the colors and icons of the party, Caprichoso and Garantido, brushstroke marks, rollers, textures, representing the strength of the predominant art of Parintins, which is painting.

Since 2022, the facade of the Bumbódromo de Parintins has featured the art “Vitória da Cultura Popular”, by the duo Curumiz. This year, the season’s leading space will be renewed, with the roots of Amazonian folklore prevailing in the visual identity, mirrored by Pito Silva’s art.

Pito is one of the artists working in the visual arts segment and also created the mural “Brasil, Futuro Ancestral”, coloring the Bumbódromo, at the entrance to Avenida Paraíba, where the bumbás gather to enter the arena.
