Paranaense 2024 has a maintained format and new regulations

O Paranaense Championship 2024 is defined. In an online meeting with the Paraná Football Federation (FPF) This Thursday (9), the 12 participating clubs decided to maintain the 2023 competition format, but this time, without the limit on athlete registrations – the maximum date for player registrations will be February 23rd.

O Athletico he again proposed an unlimited number of athletes in the dispute, which was approved by the other clubs, after two years with a limit of up to 35 players per club. Furacão was represented by director Márcio Lara. With the proposal, the club wants to use young players from the base again, mixing to give the main squad a rhythm of play.

The following will compete in the 2024 Paranaense Championship: Athletico, Coritiba, Azuriz, Cianorte, FC Cascavel, Galo Maringá (formerly Aruko), Londrina, São Joseense, Maringá, Operário, PSTC and newcomer Andraus – the last two rose to the elite this year.

The format follows the same as this year, which had Athletico as undefeated champions. All teams play against each other in a single round and the top eight qualify for the knockout stages, with round-trip matches until the final. There will be a video referee in the semi-finals and finals.

The last two placed in the first phase will be relegated to the second division of Paranaense. The complete regulations and detailed table will be published by November 21st by the FPF.

But the start of the competition is confirmed for the third week of January, the 17th, a Wednesday. The game between Andraus x Athletico, at Vila Capanema, opens the competition. According to the Paranaense calendar, there will be 17 dates for the tournament. And, according to the CBF dates, the state ones have to end by April 7th.

In addition, the Federation is still negotiating the broadcasting rights for the competition with a streaming platform (NSports) and an open TV channel (Paraná Educativa). It is also worth remembering that, recently, the entity created its own broadcast channel, FPF Play TV.
