JEB’s 2023: Amapá breaks record and ends competition with 29 medals – News of Brazil

This Thursday (09) the Brazilian School Games (JEB’s) 2023 competitions close. The event took place in the federal capital (Brasília) and was attended by more than 6 thousand athletes and almost 2 thousand coaches from all Brazilian capitals. The Amapá delegation took 246 athletes to compete in 16 sports.
During these more than 10 days of competition, Amapá managed to surpass the mark of 22 medals, won in 2022 and won 29 this year, five of which were gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze. The modality that had the most podiums was Wrestling, with 8 medals (2 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze).
The first block of competitions took place between October 26th and November 1st and 136 athletes from Amapá participated. By the end of the competition, 110 students were making up the second block of competitions.
All students are between 12 and 14 years old and are enrolled in public and private educational institutions in the municipalities of Laranjal do Jari, Vitória do Jari, Oiapoque, Santana and the capital Macapá, with emphasis on the districts of Pacui and Quilombo Curiau .
The Amapá delegation received R$300,000 in investments, through the State Department of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), in logistical and material support for the students who will represent the state in the national competition.

The 2023 Brazilian School Games (JEBs), promoted by the Brazilian Confederation of School Sports (CBDE) in partnership with the Ministry of Sports, will be the largest in history, with 6,714 participants, including student-athletes, technical committee and managers, coming from the 26 States and the Federal District. The opening ceremony took place on Friday, 27th, at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center, in Brasília. The championship will qualify for the South American Games that will take place in December, in Chile.
