Brazilian Rebeca Silva won last Tuesday (22) the gold medal in the category over 70 kilos for J2 athletes (low vision) at the Tokyo Grand Prix (Japan), the fourth and final stage of 2023 of the International Circuit promoted by International Federation of Sports for the Blind (IBSA).

In the big decision, the 22-year-old athlete from São Paulo defeated Kazakh Zarina Raifova. With her victory, Rebeca added points to the world ranking that will define the places for the next edition of the Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris (France) in 2024.

“It was very difficult to get back on my feet in such a short time. This medal is very important and it was a great happiness to end the year with a flourish. I’m very grateful to everyone, and now we’re going to Paris,” declared the Brazilian, referring to her campaign at the Pan American Games in Santiago (Chile), in which she won bronze two weeks ago.

Now judo will take a break before competing in the last three competitions that will be worth ranking points, in 2024. Initially, there will be three stages of the IBSA Grand Prix before the Paris Games: Heidelberg (Germany) in February, Antalya (Turkey) in April and Tbilisi (Georgia) in May.
