Osorio recognizes Athletico’s weak game and praises rival

The coach Juan Carlos Osorio recognized that the Athletico did not play well in the goalless draw with Azuriz, this Sunday (21), in Pato Branco. The coach made a point of praising the work of the experienced coach Gilson Kleina and highlighted the physical strength of the home team’s athletes.

“I want to congratulate the Pato Branco team, they have a good team and a good coach, who planned an interesting match and adjusted to our pressure. They had merit to score. We played to score, we competed well, but we didn’t play well to win, We lacked skill and quality. But we have the potential to improve”, declared the coach.

“We lacked better service through the aisles, especially when we played with Pablo and Julimar at the end. I take responsibility, we have to work and improve. We prioritize playing with the ball, but there are moments in the game when we have to play directly. And we didn’t know how to do it”, Osorio added.

Athletico coach said the team was physically inferior

The red-and-black coach, who changed four players in the team compared to the debut against Andraus, said that Furacão was physically inferior to Azuriz and did not win almost any duel in attack. Athletico only had one shot on goal and another 13 without direction.

“A team [Azuriz] who defended very well, used his pitch very well. He almost always had eight players behind the ball. We had difficulty penetrating. We faced a very athletic team that almost always beat us in defensive duels. And, in this aspect, we have a lot to improve”, he stated.

“In the first game [contra o Andraus], it wasn’t such an athletic team. Today I also gave opportunities to several people for the first time. It was a different game and obviously it will be different games. Today was very difficult, because the opponent defended well and it is very difficult to penetrate”, he concluded.

Athletico returns to the field against Maringá on Wednesday (24), at 7pm, at the Ligga Arena, in the first home game of the year. The match, it is worth remembering, will have a restricted audience with only women, children up to 12 years old and people with disabilities. Free tickets are already sold out.
