“New Sérgio Arruda Bridge will transform mobility in Macapá”, says Davi Alcolumbre – News of Brazil

One of the main organizers of resources for the reconstruction of the Sérgio Arruda bridge, in the north of Macapá, senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) said that the inauguration of the work, scheduled for the morning of this Friday, the 15th, will be essential for improving urban mobility, relieving traffic, providing quality of life for the local population and, consequently, improving the development of the region. Leader of the federal bench, Alcolumbre, in partnership with the federal deputy, Vinícius Gurgel (PL-AP), R$ 10 million for the implementation of the project that foresees the requalification of the Jandiá Canal area and the widening of the bridge and construction of four lanes.
With structural problems and considered essential to facilitate the flow of traffic in the region, the Sérgio Arruda bridge had a fragile and precarious structure. With the new structure, there will be three lanes in the Center/North Zone direction and one lane in the North/Center zone, with an exclusive lane for public transport, a cycle lane, accessible sidewalks and an urban drainage system. “It is a very important project for Macapá and we could not fail to allocate the necessary resources for this reconstruction, which will improve the flow of vehicles, urban mobility and bring benefits and comfort to the population of Macapá”said the senator.
The works were carried out by Macapá City Hall. Since November 2023, traffic has been closed in the region for the construction of the new structure, which has completely changed the flow that connects neighborhoods in the North Zone with the center of the capital. “This revitalization was only possible because we believe in and work for the development of the municipalities of Amapá. Where there is dedication, good will and hard work, projects happen and improve people’s lives”, he stressed Alcolumbre.
The deputy Vinícius Gurgel recognized Senator Davi’s efforts to make the revitalization of Sérgio Arruda a reality in the capital of Amapá. “This is a great work, long awaited, which will improve the economy, mobility throughout the North Zone, the interior as well, and which had the support and fundamental articulation of Senator Davi, in Brasília”, highlighted.
