The Minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Alexandre de Moraes ordered the Federal Police to include the name of Bolsonarist influencer Oswaldo Eustáquio in the red broadcast of Interpol, the international police fugitive channel.

Moraes determined his arrest in December last year for encouraging and participating in demonstrations that called for a coup against the inauguration of President Lula (PT). The decision ordering the inclusion of Eustáquio’s name in the red broadcast is confidential.

In March, another Bolsonarist influencer with an arrest warrant, Bismark Fugazza, was arrested in Paraguay. Eustáquio was also approached by the Paraguayan police, but claimed to have applied for asylum, which made his arrest unfeasible.

Eustáquio is in the crosshairs of the investigations reported by the minister since the first unfolding of the investigations of the attacks on the members of the STF and anti-democratic threats.

He was arrested for the first time in 2020, pursuant to an order by Moraes in the investigation records of the anti-democratic acts that took place that year, but was placed under house arrest by the minister.

The Bolsonaro supporter was once again the subject of an arrest warrant, later revoked, in September 2021, due to his participation in the coup acts of September 7 of that year.

Eustáquio and Bismarck participated in the coup escalation after Bolsonaro’s defeat by Lula, which led to attacks on the buildings of the three Powers on January 8.

The two were, for example, at the hearing in a Senate commission in which they attacked the electoral process and the Supreme Court, held in November 2022. They asked for Moraes’ arrest or impeachment.

In a note, Eustáquio’s lawyers, Ricardo Freire Vasconcellos and Levi de Andrade, say that their client’s previous arrests were illegal and that, in the current case, the arrest was requested “under the accusation of threat for saying that he would not let the Police Federal to enter the military area, a fact that lost the object of investigation, since the demonstrations were closed”.

“The IIPEP, the international institute for the defense of political prisoners and exiles, will send a letter to Interpol asking for the non-inclusion of Eustáquio’s name in the red alert based on article 3 of the international body, which prohibits the inclusion of names due to political persecution” , says the note.

“It is public that Oswaldo Eustáquio asked the Paraguayan government for political protection and today he is officially a refugee. Any action against him would be a flagrant misuse of public money internationally and violates the treaty between Brazil and Paraguay.”
