Federal deputy Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) said that the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, committed a crime of responsibility by not releasing businessman Cleriston Pereira, who died on Monday (20) after suffering a sudden illness during the sunbathing period in Papuda, where he was preventively detained for alleged participation in the acts of January 8th.

“This citizen should be under the care of his family. The Constitution guaranteed him this and Minister Alexandre de Moraes denied him the law and the Constitution. And it was, unfortunately, as a result of his hardships that he died and (Cleriston) returned to the arms of his dead family members. It’s revolting, it’s very sad,” said van Hattem in a video posted on social media.

Since January 11th, the businessman’s defense has presented medical reports informing about Cleriston’s delicate health condition, including warnings about the risk of sudden death if the businessman did not receive adequate care outside of prison.

On September 1st, the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) gave a favorable opinion to the request for provisional release filed by the businessman’s defense. Despite the MPF’s position, the document was not analyzed by Moraes.

“CPI on the Abuse of Authority of the STF and TSE is absolutely necessary and it is long past time for the Senate to deliberate on the requests for impeachment of STF ministers already registered”, highlighted the deputy in another publication about the case.

“I hope that real justice is done in Brazil, not this type of abuse of authority and injustice that we are seeing every day”, added the parliamentarian.
