Ministries will divide Conab directors and counselors – 05/21/2023 – Panel

The ministers of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, and of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, took last week to the rapporteur of the provisional measure on the reorganization of the government, deputy Isnaldo Bulhões (MDB-AL), a proposal for shared management by Conab (Companhia Nacional of Supply).
Formally, the body would continue to be linked to Agrarian Development, but there would be an equal division between the two ministries regarding the appointment of directors and counselors.
In addition, Conab would simultaneously take care of the Food Acquisition Policy, of interest to family farming, and guarantees of stocks and minimum prices, issues related to agribusiness.
With this, Teixeira hopes to circumvent the resistance of the ruralist group in the Chamber, which has been pressing for the company’s migration to Agriculture.
