Pauderney Avelino defends himself against attacks at União Brasil: “Truth and justice will have to be restored”

Manaus (AM) – The statement by former federal deputy Pauderney Avelino refers to his resignation from the presidency of the União Brasil party and from the position of secretary of the Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), on Thursday (18).

In a note sent to Em Tempo, the former deputy refutes the justifications for the preliminary decision that met his withdrawal from the direction of the positions and declares that all legal procedures for the election of the presidency of the state executive were followed, strictly respecting what is foreseen the Statute of the party legend.

“In view of the legality of the entire process, as explained here, truth and justice will have to be restored, with the will of the majority duly guaranteed. This is the purpose of the appeal filed with the Court of Justice of Amazonas against the precarious decision (injunction) in force at the time”, declared the former deputy.

The changes were made after the Court of Justice of Amazonas (TJAM) responded to the request of politicians from the União Brasil itself and annulled the party convention held by the party in April last year. Pauderney Avelino, where he was running for federal deputy at the time, was chosen to preside over the acronym in the state of Amazonas. In response, the former deputy declared that the convention did not represent the decision of all party affiliates, but a much lower number than its totality.

“The convention represented the will of more than forty affiliates, a much higher number than the number of dissatisfied people who filed a lawsuit; All affiliates must have the same value. No vote is more or less important than the other. Unfortunately, out of private interest, some sought the Judiciary, proposing an action without exposing the facts as they occurred,” he said.

The convention was mobilized by the president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), Roberto Cidade (União Brasil), and by state deputies Joana Darc (União Brasil), George Lins (União Brasil), Adjuto Afonso (União Brasil) and Mário César Filho (União Brasil). Also participating were the holder of the Secretary of State for Government (Segov), Sérgio Paulo Monteiro Litaiff Filho, and federal deputies Fausto Júnior and Saullo Vianna, who are part of União Brasil in Amazonas.

The group filed a lawsuit to annul Pauderney’s re-election, which took place on April 26, with the justification that he had failed to comply with a series of rules provided for in the party’s statute. Pauderney Avelino stated that his election was held in a fair and democratic manner.

“ After the election, the National Board of União Brasil was informed and validated the regularity of the convention, authorizing the executive commission to act. This was even registered with the Electoral Court. The National Board, therefore, was duly informed of the event before, during and its consequent result”, he said.

The decision was met, on Wednesday (17), by Judge José Renier da Silva Guimarães, from the District of Manaus, where the TJAM pointed out irregularities in the Pauderney election convention, such as the lack of publication at least five days in advance of the call notice for the Extraordinary Convention and the failure to publish the notice in a small-circulation newspaper that did not have the minimum information such as the deadline for candidacy and the number of members to be elected.

The text states that, due to these factors, the convention did not respect the requirement of the National Statute of União Brasil, which declares the participation of a qualified quorum of 3/5 of the parties. In a note, Pauderney also refuted these claims.

“Municipal convention held in at least 5% of the state’s municipalities by March 31. In Amazonas, the founding commission complied with the requirement in 10% of the municipalities, that is, in six of the 62 that make up the state: Itacoatiara, Iranduba, Beruri, Manacapuru, Apuí and Eirunepé; Holding of the state convention, to replace the founding committee, until April 30. This requirement was fulfilled on April 26, that is, four days before the deadline and with a duly registered plate, another statutory requirement; The state convention was attended, in a democratic manner, by dozens of affiliates, including six delegates from municipal directories, a state deputy, the mayor of the largest city in the interior of Amazonas, Parintins, in addition to 11 of the 16 members of the then-current executive committee. , he declared.

The former deputy’s access to party accounts was also suspended on the day of the court’s decision. On the same day, the Government of Amazonas published, in the Official State Gazette (DOE), the dismissal of Pauderney. However, the decree is dated May 16 (Tuesday), the same day that the Lima group filed a lawsuit to remove the politician from office.

At the end of the note sent, the former federal deputy signs ‘Pauderney Avelino, elected President of the Amazonas Executive of União Brasil’. Who assumed the position of secretary of the Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation was the executive secretary of Sedecti, Marco Antônio de Oliveira Villela, according to the signed decree .
