Minister validates 21 agreements with those investigated on January 8

Brasilia DF) – Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), validated this Tuesday (26), 21 non-criminal prosecution agreements with those investigated for the coup acts of January 8th.

The agreements were applied by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to 21 defendants who were arrested in front of the Army headquarters, in Brasília, the day after the acts.

Under the non-criminal prosecution agreement (ANPP), those accused of crimes committed without violence or serious threat and with a minimum sentence of four years can confess to the crimes in exchange for measures other than prison.

When validating the ANPP, Moraes determined that defendants must provide services to the community and pay fines that vary between R$1,000 and R$5,000, an amount that varies in each case. It also determines the ban on the use of social networks and participation in a course on the theme of Democracy, Rule of Law and Coup d’Etat.

Those investigated who participated in the acts of depredation of Congress, the Palácio do Planalto and the Supreme Court will not be entitled to the benefit and will face trial in Court.
