Mayor Furlan met via videoconference with members of the Ministry of Cities – News of Brazil

On the afternoon of this Wednesday (14), Dr. Furlan, councilors and municipal secretaries held a video conference meeting with members of the Ministry of Cities (Mcid), with the aim of understanding the recurring situation of flooding due to the intense rains that occurred this Tuesday (13).

The purpose of the meeting is to seek to understand the situation in the Beirol canal and Pedrinhas basin, South Zone, and what the prevention works will be in these locations.

”One of the main objectives of this meeting is to seek macro-drainage in the channels, being a way to definitively resolve our situation with flooding in Macapá”, said Dr. Furlan, mayor of Macapá.

Dr. Furlan reinforced that he registered the macro-drainage of the Pedrinhas basin and the Beirol canal in the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). As well, these measures need to be carried out to avoid new flooding in periods of intense rain.

The Ministry of Cities was contacted by the state of emergency decree. Helder Melillo, interim minister, spoke about the purpose of the meeting to reinforce preventive measures to prevent these accidents from happening again. He highlighted that in this first moment, he listened to the demands in order to provide the necessary resources.

The meeting was attended by municipal secretaries, councilors, federal deputy Acácio Favacho and coordinator of Municipal Civil Defense, Aldair Santos.
