At the opening of the legislative work at the Manaus City Council, this Tuesday morning (6), the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, delivered the Government Message and highlighted the historic advances in management over the last three years, in all areas of the city. city. Among them, he cited revitalization of health units, schools, markets and fairs and social assistance centers, construction of road complexes, renewal of the bus fleet, recovery of streets and generation of jobs and income.

For this year, the mayor reaffirmed his commitment to continue with the works at an accelerated pace, in all areas, with the support of municipal employees and maintaining partnerships so that Manaus remains more developed, more human and with more opportunities for its population.

“I’m happy to be mayor of this city. We had three years of this administration. However, in the first year, in 2021, the world stopped, but we didn’t stop and went out to save lives and administered more than 3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. It’s good to be mayor of a city that has been recognized as the one that invests the most in health and education, according to the National Front of Mayors. In the health area, the main highlights were the increase in basic care coverage, which went from less than 50% to 81%, revitalization of 68 health units (23 delivered in 2023), implementation of three women’s health units , in addition to the appreciation of health professionals, which made Manaus reach the top of the national ranking, now for seven consecutive four-month periods, by the Ranking Previne Brasil/2024.

And in education, the revolution is no different: 334 revitalized schools, implementation of the Student Free Pass, improvement and expansion of school meals, better remuneration for education professionals and compliance with the base date, promotions and progressions.

Concern for people

Assistance to people, according to the mayor, has been guaranteed and with greater quality, through the renovation of 12 Reference and Specialized Social Assistance Centers (Cras and Creas), with community kitchens and Prato do Povo restaurants, which together they serve more than 2 million meals; and with the actions developed by the Dr. Thomas Foundation, which served more than 9 thousand elderly people in 2023 alone.

And a major action that stood out last year was Operation Drought, involving several municipal departments, to minimize the impacts of the historic low tide in the region: it served more than 23 thousand people in 81 rural communities, with basic food baskets, drinking water and health kits. personal hygiene.

In the area of ​​infrastructure, David Almeida listed important deliveries, such as the more than 2,700 streets resurfaced by the “Asfalta Manaus” program (664 streets in 2023 alone); revitalization of squares, public bodies and sports complexes; containment of major erosion, widening of roads and construction of a road complex. In addition to the renovation of integration terminals and bus stops, renovation of 317 new buses, delivery of the first electric vehicles, and installation of 50 smart traffic lights to improve traffic in the city.

And more: universalization of the drinking and piped water service and with 26% of households having sewage collection and treatment (target of reaching 38% from this year onwards), standing out in the 2023 Sanitation Ranking Survey, as the capital from the North of the country that invested the most in this area; public cleaning actions, such as streets and streams; support and encouragement for sport and high-performance athletes, crowning Manaus with the recognition of South American City of Sports 2024, granted by the European Parliament.

Furthermore, the mayor of Manaus emphasized the promotion of employment and income for the population of Manaus, with the intermediation of 18 thousand vacancies by Sine Manaus, of which 14 thousand were filled by workers, and through various aids and programs, benefiting more of 13 thousand entrepreneurs. And I couldn’t fail to mention four more important deliveries for 2023: Praia Zezinho Corrêa house, in Ponta Negra; first stage of the Amazonino Mendes park, between the North and East zones of the capital; opening of Procon Manaus, in the Phelippe Daou shopping mall, and the Micro and Small Business District of the Municipality of Manaus (Dimicro), in the East zone.

Goals for 2024

Among the numerous deliveries planned for this year, David Almeida informed that he will continue with the revitalization of schools, health units, markets and fairs and social assistance centers.

This year, it will also deliver: Rei Pelé road complex, in the Producer’s ball; Lúcia Almeida viewpoint complex, Thiago de Mello mansion and São Vicente square, in the Center; second stage of the Amazonino Mendes park, and the Encontro das Águas Rosa Almeida park, in the Colônia Antônio Aleixo neighborhood.

Also included in this large package of works are more than 2,000 new resurfaced streets and the work order for two more road complexes; three new daycare centers to be delivered; implementation of the largest housing program in the history of Manaus, which will build around 8,600 homes this year alone, but which will reach more than 17 thousand families in the coming years, and much more.
