Maringá eliminates Cascavel and faces Coritiba in the semi-final

The Paranaense Championship met another semifinalist this Saturday (9). O Maringá won the Rattlesnake, 3-1, at the Willie Davids Stadium, and guaranteed a place in the next stage of the State Championship. Dogão will be the opponent of Coritibawho earlier eliminated Cianorte, after making it 6-0 on aggregate.

In the first game, Serpente had won 1-0, in the Regional Olímpico, and came out ahead in the quarter-final decision, being able to draw and qualify. But playing at home, supported by the fans and dominating the match, Maringá easily reversed and guaranteed their place in the semi-final.

Maringá took the score off the scoreboard after 16 minutes of play, with Rodrigo, after adjusting Caíque’s chest. Dominating the game, Maringá increased the score at the end of the first half. After a cross from the left, Cascavel’s captain João Marcos tried to clear it in the small area, but got in the way and the ball fell to Bruno Lopes score the second, in the 44th minute.

And do not stop there. Right at the beginning of the second half, Dogão found the net once again. Morelli went down the right and crossed the back foot, the ball arrived in Caique Silva, who just pushed, making the third. Cascavel almost set the game on fire in stoppage time, by reducing with Vitinho, but the aggregate ended in 3-2 for Maringá.

The dates and times for Coritiba and Maringá will still be announced by the Paraná Football Federation (FPF). The other two semifinalists will come from the clashes between Athletico x Londrina, scheduled for this Sunday (10), and Operário x Azuriz, which will play on Monday (11), at 8pm, at Germano Krüger.
