Magnitude 7 earthquake scares Olympic team in Morocco

A Brazilian Olympic team went through a scare, this Friday (8), in the city of Fez, Morocco. According to a statement from CBF, a magnitude 7 earthquake was recorded in the country. The epicenter was recorded near the capital Marrakesh, which is approximately 530 kilometers from the Brazilian concentration.

Athletes and members of the Brazilian delegation felt the tremor and left their rooms at the hotel. For safety, they were taken to the pool and returned to their rooms an hour after the earthquake.

On Thursday (7), the team lost to Morocco1-0, in the first leg of the series of two friendlies against the current champions of the African Cup of Nations.

This Friday, the players on the national team began training for the second match against Morocco, scheduled for Monday, at 4 pm (Brasília time). The reserves carried out work with the technician Ramon Menezeswhile the athletes who started the last match in the starting line-up did physical exercises.

The friendlies are part of Brazil’s preparation for the Pre-Olympic competition, which will take place in January. Only two teams from South America qualify for the Paris Olympics next year.
