The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), defended this Monday (27) that the joint commissions have more deputies in the composition to analyze the provisional measures. Today, the mixed committees of MPs are composed of 12 deputies and 12 senators. Lira met with the leaders of the Chamber to discuss the issue in the midst of the impasse with the Senate.

In addition to greater participation of deputies, the other proposal is to determine a deadline for the analysis of MPs in the joint commission. “The only possibility for the Chamber to accept negotiations, accept a mixed commission, is for it to comply with the rite that other bicameral commissions comply with. For example, CMO [Comissão de Orçamento] there are 30 deputies and 10 senators, an equal number of substitutes”, said the president of the Chamber.

Lira also suggested that, if the Senate does not accept the agreement, the government may choose three or four essential provisional measures, such as Bolsa Família, to be analyzed in joint committees. “There being no agreement [com Senado]the government made an appeal to the Chamber of Deputies, and should also make an appeal to the Federal Senate, that three or four essential MPs such as Bolsa Família, Minha Casa Minha Vida, and the organization of ministries, we make an exception and nominate the leaders to compose these committees [mistas]”, he stated.
