PT of Rio Grande do Sul decides to challenge Sgarbossa’s affiliation

The state executive of the PT decided to maintain the decision taken by the municipal board that prevented the return of Marcelo Sgarbossa to the acronym. The contestation of the alderman’s reaffiliation was decided unanimously, by 18 votes in favor and zero against.
The meeting that deliberated on the appeal forwarded by the parliamentarian took place this Monday (27) in the morning, at the headquarters of the directory – located in the Capital.
The obstacle began after Sgarbossa, then without a mandate, left the PT to join the PV, in an attempt to pull the acronym to the left in a federation with the PT. However, with the departure of PT councilors – who joined the state legislature in the 2022 elections – Sgarbossa, as the first alternate, tried to return to the party to take over the chair.
The attempt to re-affiliate led to disputes by substitute Adeli Sell (PT), next on the substitute list. Sell then appealed to the municipal board, alleging party infidelity, and the arguments were accepted. Thus, Sgarbossa again tried to appeal, but this time to the state executive, which also did not accept his affiliation.
The councilor had already anticipated that he would appeal to the national directory, in case the state executive came to challenge his attempt to return to the party. This is the most viable alternative for the parliamentarian to remain in office. However, if the decision remains due to his impediment from affiliation to the acronym, the councilor may lose his seat in the Chamber.
So far, Sgarbossa remains in the Municipal Legislative, without being linked to parties.
