Legislative Assembly promotes seminar to boost the oil and gas sector in Amapá – News of Brazil

This Tuesday (05), the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amapá (Alap), through the Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Exploration of Oil and Gas on the equatorial margin, held the 1st “Prepara Amapá” Seminar in the Dalto Martins auditorium, at 8am to 5:30pm. The event aimed to retrieve information initiated at the Oiapoque Public Hearing, establish partnerships with educational institutions, oil and gas supply companies, and city halls of cities that have experienced development in the last 30 years. Furthermore, it sought to disseminate the possibilities and opportunities of the oil production chain in four thematic panels.
In her speech, the president of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), state deputy Alliny Serrão, expressed gratitude for the dedication of state deputy Delegado Inácio to the State’s development agenda. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of collaboration between the legislative and executive powers, thanking the acting governor, Antônio Teles Júnior, for his presence. During his speech, Serrão highlighted the development opportunities arising from oil exploration on the coast of Amapá, highlighting the importance of the collective participation of the population and authorities to overcome challenges and guarantee benefits to the State. She also highlighted the crucial need to balance economic development with environmental preservation, emphasizing responsibility in oil exploration.
“We need to worry about the environment, but it is also essential to understand the importance of oil extraction on the coast of Amapá, which is knocking on our door. We want to approach this issue with responsibility and commitment. Without a doubt, this debate is crucial to deepen our knowledge and continually improve, thanks to everyone’s contribution”highlighted the president.
The acting governor, Antônio Teles Júnior, highlighted the need to take advantage of existing opportunities in the State, transforming challenges into innovative initiatives that boost economic growth, job and income generation, as well as social inclusion. “We also need to understand the importance of oil extraction on our Amapá coast. We want to carry out this with great responsibility; we must promote a process of economic growth and social inclusion”he highlighted.
State deputy delegate Inácio highlighted the need for effective collaboration, joining efforts to create and disseminate information, thus marking the beginning of a movement aimed at the seminar’s objectives. He emphasized the scope of the event, which goes beyond the limits of “Prepara Amapá”, representing the initial milestone of a broad movement that encompasses the government, the Legislative Assembly, business associations and city halls.
“Today, we are in a seminar called ‘Prepara Amapá’, but which, in fact, is the first event of a great movement that all of us, here together, are generating. The State government, the Legislative Assembly, the associations representing businesspeople, the city halls, the municipal authorities, may we together undertake this journey in pursuit of this objective: making the State of Amapá and its people able to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead, that the oil industry brings along with its entire production chain”stressed the deputy.
The ANP Exploration Superintendent, Luciano Lobo, in his speech, thanked President Alliny Serrão and Deputy Inácio for the invitation. He emphasized that he manages, together with a team of 40 public servants, responsible for around 70 contracts currently in force in Brazil. Luciano Lobo addressed the current scenario of the Brazilian equatorial margin, the energy transition and sustainable development.
“Around 52% of oil projects are on the equatorial margin. Petrobras will invest around 3 billion reais in exploration on the equatorial margin alone over the next 5 years”said the superintendent.
The president of Gasmar (Companhia Maranhense de Gás), Allan Kardec, highlighted the importance of directing investments to the Amapá coast. In his words, “If we do not prioritize investments in the equatorial region, we run the risk of regressing to the previous scenario in Brazil.”
In closing, the president of Alap thanked everyone for their presence and reinforced the importance of the debate to deepen knowledge about the opportunities that the oil industry can offer to the State of Amapá.
