To receive the half-price benefit, blood donors must be registered with Hemoam

Manaus (AM) – Ordinary Law No. 6,758, which provides for the inclusion of donors of one of the kidneys and donors of part of the lung, liver or bone marrow for half-price at cultural, sporting and leisure events, was sanctioned.

The new law, arising from matter No. 602/2023, authored by Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil), changes state law No. 5,152, which already benefits blood donors.

“Brazil is the second country on the planet that performs the most organ transplants. This law, in addition to benefiting these new donors, also raises awareness, which is so important to save lives”,

said Abraham.

To receive the half-price benefit, blood donors must be registered with the Amazonas Hospital Foundation of Hematology and Hemotherapy (Hemoam) and the state’s blood banks, identified by an official document issued by these entities.

The new law establishes that other elective donors must be identified by official document with photo issued by the State Department of Health of Amazonas (Seas).

According to the Ministry of Health, in 2021, approximately 23.5 thousand procedures were carried out. Of this total, 4,800 were kidney transplants, 2,000 liver, 334 heart and 84 lung transplants, among others. The country has more than 600 authorized transplant hospitals.
