The Justice of Pará annulled, on Monday night (22), the nomination of the wife of Governor Helder Barbalho (MDB), Daniela Barbalho, for the position of counselor of the TCE (State Court of Auditors).

The judge understood that the case constitutes nepotism and violates administrative principles.

“With this episode, a kind of crossed nepotism was instituted, since the Governor of the State did not directly appoint his wife to a relevant and lifelong public office, but indirectly did so through the commissive conduct of the President of the Legislative Assembly”, wrote Raimundo Santana, from the 5th Public Treasury Court.

In this position, Daniela was responsible for overseeing her husband’s government spending, with a salary of R$ 35,000. TCE directors hold a lifetime position.

She was nominated in March of this year in an act published in the Official Gazette of the state signed by the president of Alepa (Legislative Assembly), deputy Chicão (MDB).

At the time, Chicão was acting governor while Barbalho was working outside Pará.

“There are very strong indications of the configuration of misuse of purpose, since the acts opposed were only aimed at pleasing the personal interests of the public agents involved”, said judge Raimundo Santana.

For him, Alepa “did not bother to provide society with the minimum of information about the progress of the procedures that preceded the choice of the counselor”.

Also on Monday, Simone Denarium, first lady of Roraima, was elected counselor of the state’s Court of Auditors. The case adds to that of appointments in other courts across the country of people close to governors and former governors.
