Judge makes defendants accused of planning to kidnap Moro – 05/31/2023 – Power

The Federal Court in Paraná accepted a complaint from the Federal Public Ministry and turned 13 defendants into defendants for allegedly planning the kidnapping of Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR).

The decision was signed on the 17th by Judge Sandra Regina Soares, from the 9th Federal Court of Curitiba.

Among the crimes narrated in the MPF complaint are attempted extortion through kidnapping, criminal organization and illegal possession of a firearm.

The MPF’s complaint comes in the wake of Operation Sequaz, launched on March 22 by the Federal Police to dismantle a plan by the PCC criminal faction that intended to carry out attacks against authorities, such as Moro.

The case ended up gaining political repercussions after President Lula (PT) declared that he saw “a frame” by Moro in the episode. The petista’s inference stemmed from the fact that the arrest warrant was signed by Judge Gabriela Hardt, who worked on the Lava Jato Federal Court along with the current senator.

The magistrate, that week, covered a colleague’s vacation by signing the warrants for Operation Sequaz.

Arrest and search and seizure warrants were carried out in at least five states.

The attack against authorities was linked to the transfer of PCC leaders, including Marco Willians Herbas Camacho, known as Marcola, to the federal penitentiary system.

The main head of the PCC was transferred from the São Paulo state penitentiary system to the federal penitentiary in Brasília in February 2019. At the time, Moro was Minister of Justice in the Jair Bolsonaro government.

Months later, Marcola went to a federal unit in Rondônia. This year, he returned to the federal capital.
