Manaus (AM) – JC Futebol Clube added player Jennyfer Matos to the women’s professional squad. The athlete was part of the Sports and Leisure Program in the Capital and Interior (Pelci) and emerged at the center of the Zezinho Sports and Leisure Center, located in the São José neighborhood, in the East Zone of Manaus. Jennyfer was first part of the team’s U20 category and has now been added to the professional squad.

Jennyfer always liked playing sports, but she found her footing in football. The 18-year-old stood out in the group she attended at Pelci, a fundamental program in promoting grassroots sports and revealing new talents, and received the invitation to be part of the JC U20 squad, which is competing in the Brazilian Championship of category. For Jennyfer, the Amazonas Government program was essential in development.

“I started at São José 3, it was a community project that later became Pelci. I started training there since I was little, I evolved, I stood out, and I had the opportunity to be observed by JC. Thanks to the program they called me, first to the U20 team and now moving up to the professional team”,

Jennyfer said.

In 2024, JC will participate in the Campeonato Amazonense Feminino, which will be played between September and December, as stipulated in the calendar of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), and in the A2 Series of the Brasileiro Feminino 2024. The national competition, in addition to the Itacoatiara club , will bring together 3B, another representative of Amazonas, and teams such as Bahia, Athletico-PR, Sport-PE, Ceará and Remo-PA.

“We are extremely proud to see an athlete who developed through Pelci reaching professional status in her sporting career. This reaffirms our commitment to continue investing in grassroots sport, providing our young people with the opportunities, training and support necessary to develop their full potential”, said Jorge Oliveira, Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel).
